The title has nothing to do with this post. The title has everything to do with this post.  Someone said, “Women between twenty to thirty years of age must be married between those years otherwise they will never be women again.”

Now, I require you to ignore the fallacy communicated by that sentence and focus on between. Between 20-30, between 20 to 30 and between twenty to thirty are three ways of saying the wrong thing. My computer does not like them and it warned me to consider the use of between and revise it.

My computer is right. The correct word or form to use after between is and. Therefore the idiot who said, that women between twenty to thirty will lose their sexual organs if they are not married by a certain age, should have said, “ Women between twenty and thirty…”.

Between and to are not companions, they do not live on the same planet. One lives in Pluto, the other in Venus. It is between this and that, between you and the smiling duck in your head, between a woman and a donkey and between her legs and her waist.

To is used if a phrase begins with from. Thus, from here to there, from this to that and I am expecting from ten to twenty guests at my wedding ceremony, years after my thirtieth birthday. To can also be used if a phrase does not  have an introductory preposition. An example of a phrase that does not have an introductory preposition is, “Fifteen to twenty minutes are enough for gossipers to ruin a bad reputation.” Yes, bad reputations can be ruined too.

Note: An introductory prepositional phrase is a prepositional phrase at the beginning of a sentence. It begins with a preposition and ends with a noun e.g. Before using the thing between your legs and your waist for sex, wear a condom.
